On the 30th of May, after several months of planning, PreachingPlace launched the B.LA.S.T. Although, the event had a dynamic social element, the true reason this open fellowship started was because of one thing; the love of Jesus. Far from being the brain-child of the members of Preaching Place, we find in scripture that it was Christ himself, who founded an open forum where one could minister and be ministered to amongst the wonderful works of nature. Notable examples in the bible testify to this, such as when Jesus fed the five thousand (Matthew 14:14-21), and the well-known "Sermon on the mount" (Matthew 5-7).
In the life of Christ,we get a grand picture of simplicity. Not only in his personal life, but also in how He touched souls. Christ often spoke parables to listening ears in order to portray the deep things of heaven in natural, earthly terms. Scripture tells us in Romans 1:20 that the invisible things of God are made clear by His creative hand in nature. The park-setting therefore was not only a beautiful alternative to an indoor service, but also a very fitting one.
The simple meetings that Christ held were not only to instruct his followers in the knowledge of truth, but to build their lives around it. This served as a catalyst for a gospel explosion where the truth of the God, was taken to all the then known world (Colossians 1:23).
With the same Divine Mandate given to us in Matthew 24:14, it is the mission of Preaching Place through the B.L.A.S.T., to revive, equip, minister and encourage people of all walks in life, in order to carry out God's plan in healing communities.
Andrew Fuller stated plainly in his opening address that "the best way to stay with Christ is to work for Christ." Solomon Coker and Andrew introduced themselves and explained how they were both born and raised in the Heathbrook area and so have affirmed that they will take this same gospel, that has beautified their lives, and so many others, back home. They prayerfully aim that through the power of Christ, that we can reach out to the varied communities which they know and love so well.
After the introduction, people were blessed to join in with the amplified voices of the praise team, partaking in some fun-filled activities which aroused a sense of harmony in the community-fellowship experience.
For the break, everybody was given refreshments, which included: juice, water and some heaven-filled Falafel wraps, made by our very own Chantelle Fuller.
The second half of B.LA.S.T. started and concluded with a very intimate account of how Christ moved in the life of Preaching Place member Michael Dantzie. He explained how the transforming mystery of divine love gave him a true heart-conversion. This lead him to have a providential experience, where he was able to give that same life-saving message to his brother Jonathan, who then recounted to us about how he was on the verge of losing his own life.
The B.LA.S.T. was truly memorable. It was a break from the monotony of the stereo-typical "church experience”. It helped to enrich and re-ignite the godly fire that desires to burn within each and every one of us.
It is my prayer that you will join us at B.L.A.S.T. on the 27th of June, where we will continue to share and grow together in the love and knowledge of Christ.
